Carol Voderman slams Edwina Currie as her mortgage message has not been well received.
It seems some in government have taken notice of the crisis, as it has just been announced that mortgage lenders and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt have agreed that people should be given a 12-month break before repossession proceedings start amid soaring interest rates.
The chancellor said: “There are two groups of people that we’re particularly worried about.
“The first are people who are at real risk of losing their homes because they fall behind in their mortgage payments.
“And the second are people who are having to change their mortgage because their fixed rate comes to an end, and they’re worried about the impact on their family finances have higher mortgage rates.”

She tweeted: “All the baby boomers who are now mortgage-free home owners went through paying interest rates three times what they are now. 16% was normal. We didn’t have much choice, but home ownership rocketed, and we survived.”
Carol Voderman replied, tweeting: “No @Edwina_Currie 16% wasn’t normal Mum & I bought a house £17k, 1982 Leeds, 9% mortgage.2 x joint income. Poor but lucky Young people now need to borrow crazy multiples on stupidly expensive housing stock. Do your maths love.”
