Who doesn’t love Keanu Reeves? Point Break, Bill and Ted, etc etc. Well there is exciting news as John Wick 5 is coming and Reeves will put a shift in, like he always does.
John Wick 5 was originally going to be shot back-to-back with John Wick: Chapter 4, but that never transpired.
The franchise has become one of the most loved and cherished action series for years.
There is not a load of information, as yet, but it is in development.
That is enough to be music to ears of the fans of the series.
Spin off delay?
The Ana de Armas-led spin-off Ballerina, which is set to place between Chapters 3 and 4, is currently due for release on June 7, 2024.
Joe Drake the top guy at Lionsgare said: ““What is official is that, as you know, Ballerina is the first spin-off that comes out next year. We’re in development on three others, including five and including the television series, The Continental, which will be airing soon.”
The Continental series from Lionsgate, will present the dark universe of John Wick in upcoming SDCC. It will delve into the origins of the iconic Continental Hotel, which was a sanctuary for assassins in the John Wick movies.
Plot
At the end of John Wick 4 he appeared to die, but the writers can always come up with a way to bring him back, or perhaps make it a prequal?
Cast
Reeves will return for John Wick 5.
Ian McShane and Laurence Fishburne will likely return as Continental owner Winston and the Bowery King respectively, but we can’t be sure.
A lot can change, due to the timeframe of the films likely release date.
John Wick 4 extended director’s cut
Speaking to ComicBookMovie.com, director Chad Stahelski said he’s “almost finished” the extended edition.
“There’s about another, I think, 10 to 15 minutes we put back in,” he says. “We cut out a big chunk of Berlin, a whole character called The Frau, which is a pretty funny scene with John, and another scene between him and Tracker, a few other little action beats that we put back in.” While the scenes were originally cut for pacing reasons, it sounds like there’s real substance to the added material. “I think the stuff is all super quality, I love the choreo, I love the characters,” explains Stahelski. “It just didn’t- As a whole, it changed the pace of the film, and I didn’t think I could get, you know, [a] two hour and 38 minute film in there if it felt slow. I think we got away with it because it felt driven, it felt like it was very purposeful, and I didn’t want to upset that pace. And, if it has to go, it has to go.”
