A new Cinderella movie is coming and it will leave you frozen…with horror.
The film will be produced by ChampDog Films who also created the unofficial Winnie The Pooh horror movie Blood and Honey, reported NME.
The release of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey led to the filmâs director receiving death threats for his adaption of the beloved childrenâs stories.
New Cinderella film
Louisa Warren, the filmâs director and producer has spoken about the new take on the classic film.
Speaking to Bloody Disgusting, Warren shared: âThis an incredibly unique spin on the Cinderella we all love and know. There are going to be some truly horrific deaths by her hands. I think the gore hounds are in for a treat in my dark retelling.â
The new Cinderella will feature moments and plot lines from the original story but that details will be lifted from the darker 1812 Brothers Grimm retelling as well.  Â
The book is a lot darker than the romance tale most of us associate with the film. It is basically a story of horrific abuse and domestic slavery.
It was 100 years later when Disney picked up the story, but the character first appeared in 1600, a creation of Italian writer Giambattista Basile.
Cinderella has had modern versions of the story retold on the big screen like the ones starring Hilary Duff and Selena Gomez.
Sensitivity readers
‘Sensitivity readers’ have been deployed to examine the back catalogue of Ladybird books, that includes classic tales like Cinderella and Snow White, reported LBC.
Themes like handsome princes falling for beautiful princesses in classic tales like Snow White and Cinderella could prove problematic, according to the Sunday Telegraph.
What they will make of this film version we can’t even imagine…
