As we all probably know a BBC star who has been accused of paying a teenager for sexually explicit images allegedly made calls to them after initial reports emerged last week.
The unnamed presenter allegedly rang the teenager, who is now 20, and asked ‘what have you done’?
It now appears that the BBC has suspended the star, however the problem is that numerous BBC presenters have come out to deny it is them.
Legally in sexually assault cases the suspect can’t be named as that could lead to finding the victim.
Bizarrely the BBC didn’t follow this when they had a helicopter over Cliff Richard’s house, more of that later.
The BBC is coming under fresh pressure over its handling of serious allegations against one of its presenters as it was reported that it took more than six weeks before the initial claims were passed to the director general, reports The Guardian.
BBC presenter sex scandal
First of all pontificating about who it might be could land you in hot water, people on social media have to be very careful, something people on social media are not always aware of.
MSM have been called out
The Mail for this?
As Natasha Dev on tweeted: “I’m sure the Daily Mail in no way deliberately put massive pics of @GaryLineker & @theJeremyVine under their headline about the thus-far anonymous disgraced BBC presenter hoping their readers would make an unfounded association. It’s just not the sort of thing they’d do. At all.”
Rylan tweeted this, writing: “Hi@Independent would you mind editing or removing this Facebook post, it suggests I’m the person in question and frankly the comments are disgusting.”
How have the BBC dealt with it?
Adam Bienkov tweeted: “BBC host asks BBC reporter standing outside the BBC about allegations against unnamed BBC star. BBC reporter says they “haven’t been able to confirm” whether the BBC presenter has been suspended by the BBC.”
Cliff Richard
However, a lot of people have pointed out that this ‘presetner’ hasn’t been named, but the corporation were happy to film Cliff Richard being arrested on sexual offences that he was never found guilty of.
Here is Cliff discussing it…
