Watch: ‘Death trap,’ senior fire union member slams asylum ship Bibby Stockholm

A senior fire service member has slammed the asylum ship Bibby Stockholm as a potential death trap.

It comes as asylum seekers ordered to move to the “quasi-prison” barge are fighting the transfers, reports The Independent.

Migrants are expected to arrive on the Bibby Stockholm next week, as the date has been pushed back a number of times.

Good Morning Britain wrote: “Plans to house migrants on a barge off the coast of Dorset have been delayed over safety concerns. This comes as GMB has seen a letter sent to asylum seekers informing them that they will be moved to Bibby Stockholm but not telling them that it is a ship.”

Sunak

PM Rishi Sunak said: “All migrant accommodation has to go through a series of checks and inspections to make sure it complies with regulation, that’s what’s happening in this case.

“This is ultimately about fairness. I don’t think it’s fair that British taxpayers are forking out six million quid a day to house illegal migrants in hotels – I want to put an end to that.”

Tory MP Richard Drax, not known for his liberal values, has even likened the barge to a “quasi-prison”
