There have been rumours that Boris Johnson might appear on ITV’s I’m a celebrity get me out of here. The show involves eating various animals parts and insects etc, much to the dismay of animal rights groups.
Boris Johnson might hope to practice by eating grey crested newts to prepare for the jungle, as his plans to build a pool at his hime may be scuppered by the protected species.
Massive drag
Of course that is a joke (we think) but there will be little sympathy to Johnson’s planning problem, and newts have probably gone up the list of favourite animals for many.
The great crested newt, against which the former PM railed when he was in No 10 and accused of being “a massive drag on the prosperity of this country”, has had its revenge.
Johnson plans to erect an outdoor swimming pool at his Oxfordshire home might fail, unlike Rishi Sunak who has managed to build a huge leisure complex at one of his homes.
Boris Johnson I’m a celebrity
Boris Johnson was reported to be in talks with ITV over a potential appearance on the reality show after jungle bosses contacted his team to find out if he’d be interested.
A spokesman for Johnson told The Sun: “Boris is not doing this programme and is not in talks to do so.”
The paper quoted a ‘TV insider’ who they claim said said: “Having former Health Secretary Matt Hancock on the show last year created a buzz which I’m A Celebrity has not seen in years.
“He was a jungle signing few would have thought possible, so this year they’ve really shot for the stars and made the approach to Bojo’s people.
“It’s not as crazy an idea as it first seems as his father, Stanley Johnson, went into the jungle six years ago and his sister, Rachel Johnson, was on Celebrity Big Brother in 2018.
