The fine print reveals the massive tsunami of austerity that Jeremy Hunt intends to unleash after the next election if he remains in office.
The Chancellor has extended current spending plans until April 2025. However, he plans to cut £11.6 billion in 2025/26, £23.2 billion in 2026/27, and £36.3 billion in 2027/28.
They appear to be deferring the real cuts until after the election.
