Nadines Dorries could be forced out of her MP role. It comes after she said she was going to resign and is still in post, taking in her huge MPs salary, and seemingly doing nothing or very little for her constituents…or parliamentary democracy.
She has not spoken in the Commons since July 2022 and last voted in April.
Six months on from her last vote in Parliament would be 26 October.
Nadine Dorries MP
Back in July a council in Nadine Dorries’s constituency have urged her to FINALLY resign as an MP as they lashed out at the “lack of representation” in Parliament for residents.
The clerk of Flitwick Town Council in Bedfordshire, wrote: “Our residents desperately need effective representation now. Flitwick Town Council calls on you to immediately vacate your seat to allow a by-election.”
How to get her out
Labour MP Chris Bryant shared the BBC News story on the matter and wrote: “I came across this obscure rule from 1801 when researching my book CODE OF CONDUCT, WHY WE NEED TO FIX PARLIAMENT, AND HOW TO DO IT, out on 17 August. Nadine Dorries faces move to force her out of Parliament – BBC News.”
Sir Chris said: “Maybe she’ll turn up on the first day back in September and take part in debates and so on. Or maybe she’ll resign… Let’s see what happens.”
Downing Street said it was for Ms Dorries’s constituents to decide whether they were “well served”.
Last week, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the people of Mid Bedfordshire were not being properly represented.
However, Rishi Sunak has rejected calls for Nadine Dorries to be forced out of Parliament.
