Rishi Sunak’s asylum video where he called ‘safe routes’ have been slammed in a viral video and by the Full Fact website.
Six people died after a migrant boat capsized in the English Channel has been described as an “appalling and preventable tragedy”.
The government claims it ‘is ensuring that the only way to come to the UK for asylum will be through safe and legal routes.’
Full Fact concluded: “There are currently no visa routes available for the purposes of travelling to the UK to claim asylum, and it is not possible to apply for asylum in the UK without being physically present here. The UK does operate some safe and legal routes for the purpose of providing humanitarian and other forms of protection to vulnerable people, but these do not involve being granted asylum by the UK.”
Bibby Stockholm
It comes as asylum seekers have been taken off the Bibby Stockholm barge in Dorset after Legionella bacteria was discovered on board.
The accommodation is part of the government’s plan to deal with the large numbers of people arriving in the UK on small boats.
Also, shockingly Home Office contractors were told about traces of Legionella bacteria found on the Bibby Stockholm on the same day asylum seekers were transferred on to the barge, Dorset Council has said.
The discovery eventually led to the removal of all 39 people who had moved onto the barge on Friday 11 August.
Rishi Sunak asylum
Filmmaker Peter Stefanovic created a new film dismantling Sunak’s asylum claims.
Peter shared the video and wrote: “In his latest bonkers video PM says he’s “ensuring that the only way to come to the UK for asylum will be through safe & legal routes” Imagine his shock when he finds out there are currently NO SAFE & LEGAL ROUTES by which to travel to the UK for the purpose of claiming asylum.”
