Frustration at Nadine Dorries remaining in post as an MP has grown again, which we didn’t think was possible.
Frustration at Nadine Dorries
Dorries quit ten weeks ago, but is still clinging onto her role.
Two councils in her constituency have demanded that she step down.
In a scathing letter to the ex-Culture Secretary, the clerk of Flitwick Town Council, wrote: “Our residents desperately need effective representation now. Flitwick Town Council calls on you to immediately vacate your seat to allow a by-election.”
Is she working?
In a brief statement on Tuesday, Nads insisted she and her staff “are working daily with constituents”.
She has not spoken in the Commons since June 2022 and last voted in April.
Starmer
Asked about her position on LBC on Tuesday, Labour leader Keir Starmer said: “I think she should just go. I have been in Mid Bedfordshire talking to some of her constituents.
“But she said she would resign with immediate effect. I don’t know what her dictionary definition of immediate effect is, but 10 weeks after the event doesn’t seem to be immediate effect.”
Watch
Tory MP told Time Radio: “She needs to make clear to her constituents what she’s doing, and do it fast.”
James O’Brien
LBC shared James’ thoughts and wrote: ‘Nadine Dorries now, is utterly beyond parody.’ The ‘combination of ignorance and arrogance’ that the former Culture Secretary is operating with is ‘beyond articulation’ says @mrjamesob, as pressure mounts for her to officially resign.”
