The makers of the Sonic film released on a trailer and the feedback was, well, awful.

People slammed the CGI and it looked like the film was destined to be a huge flop.

However, this shows the power of the internet the negative feedback was so quick to show its feelings, that the makers were able to halt the release date.

So, Paramount delayed the film so director Jeff Fowler could redesign the animated character, whose creepy teeth initially made him look a little too human, reported Variety.

They went back to the drawing board, literally, and the film landed 58 million dollars on opening weekend, and was actually the best showing ever (at the time) for a movie based on a computer game.

“I can’t remember another time there’s been a reset, but it was incredibly smart of everyone involved to listen to the fans and  give them what they want,” said Paramount’s president of domestic distribution Chris Aronson at the time.

Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren't happy with the design & you want changes. It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast 🔧✌️

Film – spoiler alert

The film stars Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik (Dr. Eggman). The story follows Sonic as he teams up with a small-town police officer named Tom Wachowski, played by James Marsden, to stop Dr. Robotnik from capturing Sonic and using his powers for nefarious purposes. The movie blends elements of action, comedy, and adventure, staying true to the spirit of the Sonic games.

History of Sonic the Hedgehog

Sonic the Hedgehog is a popular video game character and franchise created by Sega. The character made his debut in the video game “Sonic the Hedgehog,” which was released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis console. Sonic quickly became Sega’s mascot and a prominent figure in the world of video games.

Sonic is known for his blue anthropomorphic hedgehog appearance, his signature red shoes with white stripes, and his ability to run at supersonic speeds. The main premise of the Sonic games typically revolves around Sonic’s efforts to thwart the evil plans of the antagonist, Dr. Robotnik (also known as Dr. Eggman), who is constantly trying to conquer the world or capture Sonic’s animal friends.

Over the years, the Sonic franchise has expanded to include numerous sequels, spin-off games, animated TV shows, comic books, and merchandise. Some of the most popular Sonic games include “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” “Sonic CD,” “Sonic 3 & Knuckles,” and more recent titles like “Sonic Generations” and “Sonic Mania.”

Sonic has also appeared in various crossover games and media, such as the “Super Smash Bros.” series, where he is a playable character alongside other iconic video game characters.
