Matt Hancock defended his handling of care homes during the Covid outbreak, claiming that the infection was mostly carried into facilities by sick staff members.
The previous health secretary has come under fire for the government’s decision to discharge possibly contagious Covid patients from hospitals into care homes without prior testing in the early stages of the outbreak.
Many have blamed the strategy for the large number of Covid deaths in care institutions during the first wave of the epidemic, which killed an estimated 20,000 senior citizens.
However, in his shocking epidemic diaries, Mr Hancock argues that hospital discharges were only responsible for a fraction of the Covid instances in care homes – as low as 1.2%.
Peter Stefanovic says his claims are ‘deluded & insulting’ in his latest video.

Ex-Health Secretary Matt Hancock claims covid was 'primarily' brought into care homes by staff during the first wave of the pandemic. It’s deluded & insulting
