Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche Software have, at last, provided an official preview of Hogwarts Legacy in action on the Nintendo Switch, offering fans a glimpse of the magical world just days before its scheduled launch.
The recently released “Magic Awaits” trailer, available for viewing below, showcases slightly over two minutes of gameplay from the highly anticipated Harry Potter game, tailored specifically for the Switch. Curiously, neither the publisher nor the developer had offered any gameplay sneak peeks until this trailer, despite the game already being accessible on other platforms.
In this preview, viewers are treated to several cutscenes, illustrating the player character’s initiation into the magical realm as a witch or wizard. Key moments include obtaining a wand at Ollivanders, participating in initial magic lessons, and encountering various adversaries and creatures that players will confront throughout their journey in Hogwarts Legacy.
Previously, only six official screenshots of Hogwarts Legacy on Switch had been shared, providing glimpses into magic lessons within Hogwarts classrooms, serene scenes by the Black Lake, and some of the eerie challenges featured in the game.
Interestingly, a snippet of gameplay surfaced online on November 7 when an individual received an early boxed copy of Hogwarts Legacy and leaked it on the internet.
Although Hogwarts Legacy was announced for the Switch in March 2022, the Switch version faced a significant delay compared to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S versions, almost a year behind schedule. Originally set for a July 2023 release, it was later pushed to the current November date.
Hogwarts Legacy quickly became the best-selling game of February and the top-selling game of 2023 at that time, boasting 15 million copies sold as of May and generating an impressive $1 billion for Warner Bros. Discovery. Despite its success, the game has been marred by controversy due to its association with creator J.K. Rowling, who has been vocal about her controversial anti-transgender views.
