Netflix has unveiled a trailer for an upcoming film starring Millie Bobby Brown, adding to its array of new content releases. In the film titled “Damsel,” the 19-year-old Stranger Things star plays a princess on the run who finds herself ensnared in a cave with a dragon. The teaser showcases Robin Wright in the role of a queen, reminiscent of her iconic part in the 1987 fantasy film The Princess Bride. Oscar nominee Angela Bassett also makes a brief appearance.
Wright’s character welcomes Brown’s princess, emphasizing the long-standing duty to protect the kingdom. The trailer, released on Saturday, predominantly features Brown in darkness as she explores the cave. Netflix announces that the movie is slated for release next year.
During Netflix geeked week, the streaming platform teased an animated series based on the blockbuster science fiction franchise Terminator. Titled “Terminator: The Anime Series,” the show revolves around a female soldier striving to safeguard scientist Malcolm Lee in 1997 as an assassin emerges. The first film in the Terminator franchise, 1984’s “The Terminator,” starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the cyborg and Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor.
Adding to its roster, Netflix reveals that “Dead Boy Detectives,” based on the comic books by Neil Gaiman and Matt Wagner, will be part of the same universe as “The Sandman.” The series follows teenagers investigating ghosts and introduces a clairvoyant named Crystal, portrayed by Kassius Nelson, known for her roles in Pirates and Hollyoaks.
The Sandman, released the previous year, features Tom Sturridge as Lord Morpheus in the fantasy realm. Additionally, a final trailer for the animated series “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” has been released on YouTube, scheduled to premiere on Netflix on November 17. The show reunites the stars of the 2011 film “Scott Pilgrim Vs The World,” including Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Kieran Culkin, who reprise their roles.
In another announcement, a trailer for the adaptation of the tabletop card game “Exploding Kittens” features Tom Ellis, known for his role in Lucifer, as GodCat. The game revolves around avoiding explosions caused by kittens while playing various cat-themed cards.
