The video she posted captures the filming of the London scene where Chandler and Monica’s characters first became romantically involved. Cox revealed the studio audience’s unmistakable reaction influenced the storyline, turning a one-night fling into the beginning of the characters’ love story.
In the accompanying message, Cox shared a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes camaraderie, noting Perry’s penchant for whispering funny lines before shooting. She described him as both funny and kind, expressing her deep gratitude for every shared moment and acknowledging the void left by his absence.
Cox’s tribute follows fellow “Friends” co-star Matt LeBlanc, who played Perry’s on-screen best friend Joey Tribbiani. LeBlanc shared pictures of their time together and bid Perry farewell with a heavy heart, reminiscing about the cherished moments they had as friends and co-stars.
LeBlanc and Cox, along with castmates David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, and Jennifer Aniston, gathered for Perry’s funeral service on November 3 at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, according to US reports. In a joint statement to People magazine, the co-stars expressed their devastation, emphasizing their bond as more than just castmates but a family.
Additional tributes poured in from minor cast members, including Maggie Wheeler, who played Janice Hosenstein, Chandler’s on-and-off girlfriend. She felt blessed to have shared creative moments with Perry. Hank Azaria, known for his role as Phoebe’s love interest David, shared in a video that Perry, his “genius” friend, played a significant role in his journey to sobriety.
Matthew Perry’s struggles with addiction were candidly discussed in his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing.” Following his passing, the Matthew Perry Foundation was established to continue his commitment to helping others grappling with addiction.
The circumstances of Perry’s death were investigated by the Los Angeles police, responding to a call for a death investigation of a male in his 50s. The statement from Captain Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department revealed that Perry was found unconscious in a stand-alone Jacuzzi.
