Nearly 40 years after a 175-pound black bear found and ingested cocaine in a Georgia forest, the drug binge has inspired a movie.
A duffel bag that had once contained more than 70 pounds of cocaine before it was thrown from a drug smuggler’s jet was discovered close to the 175-pound black bear.
However, it was now torn apart, and 40 empty packages were lying about the carcass of the overdosed animal.
Currently, Elizabeth Banks, an actress and filmmaker, is adapting the wacky tale of the Cocaine Bear into a Hollywood thriller. The film’s first trailer has debuted.
The movie stars Keri Russell of The Americans, as well an ensemble cast that includes her husband Matthew Rhys, Margo Martindale, O’Shea Jackson Jr, Alden Ehrenreich and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
And it also features one of the final ever movie performances of Goodfellas actor Ray Liotta, who died while filming the movie Dangerous Waters in the Dominican Republic in May.
The movie Cocaine Bear will burst into theatres on February 24, 2023.
