Doctor Who Upsets Conservatives for numerous reasons as the show returns.
Doctor Who Upsets Conservatives
Ncuti Gatwa takes over from David Tennant this Christmas to become the 15th Doctor, and appears on the cover of this week’s Big Issue magazine – out 4 December 2023 – and explained how he has really embraced the message of hope that Rusell T Davies brings to the show.
“Don’t get me wrong, Russell doesn’t shy away from big, bad danger,” Gatwa said.
“The scripts are everything. They’re intense, they’re dark, they’re energetic, they’re fun and funny and light, but also very dark and heavy. You know, the way he writes – he’s dealing with such existential crises and huge issues channelled in a really artistic, creative sci-fi way.
On Christmas Day, Gatwa’s Doctor will finally make his first full appearance. But the actor is already well into filming his second series of the show.
Isaac Newton
A black doctor, whatever next?
Well, Sir Issac newton makes an appearance and is a non-white actor.
Paul Golding, leader of the far-right party Britain First, fumed: “The BBC has turned Sir Isaac Newton into a Black man. Historical revisionism at its most sinister.”
Political commentator Darren Grimes, meanwhile, wrote: “Doctor Who is now gay and Sir Isaac Newton is suddenly mixed race. Alongside pronouns and trans characters.
“The Doctor Who production team seem to be running the [Defund the BBC] campaign for us!”
In response one person wrote: “Loving how the racists are imploding over a black Isaac Newton in Dr Who, saying it’s unrealistic.
“I mean, they also had an alien flying to the edge of the universe in a blue police box, where they met aliens from outside the universe who were like Morph, but THAT was fine.”
Another wrote:”Isaac Newton wasn’t Asian, you’re right. But Charles Dickens didn’t blow up ghosts. Agatha Christie didn’t fight off a Giant Wasp. Mary Seacole didn’t treat Sontarans. Van Gogh didn’t stab an invisible chicken. It’s #DoctorWho. Get a grip. And they say *we’re* the snowflakes…”
Gay Dr
Also, ‘Doctor Who to ‘regenerate’ into gay man in new adventures of the Time Lord’, reports The Sun.
“The Doctor appeared to come out as gay in the latest Doctor Who special — and will develop a crush on a male villain this weekend.”
