At today’s PMQs Sunak rattled off a list of things he is doing to help the NHS and said Starmer is not putting patients first because he is “in the pockets of his union paymaster”.
The PM said people need care. But if Starmer cares about this, why won’t Labour support the government’s minimum service levels legislation?
It appears that the Tory government are pushing on the Labour Party to back the new legislation, which has been slammed for taking away workers’ right to strike.
Deflect
Starmer then said Sunak’s response to the NHS crisis is to blame others, and deflect.
He cited figures for how many people will be calling an ambulance during PMQs.
Keir then asked Sunak apologise for the “lethal chaos” under his watch?
Sunak says he will deliver minimum safety levels as soon as he can pass the bill.
He said Starmer will say anything for political purposes and then accused Starmer of breaking promises, and he says the Labour leader is not just for the free movement of people, he is for the free movement of principles.
Lucas
In response to this the Green Party’s Caroline Lucas tweeted: “At #PMQs Sunak says stopping people striking is the answer to dangerous ambulance delays That’s just reactionary rubbish. And how disgusting to blame ambulance workers & nurses who are striking precisely to try to prevent people dying due to this Govt’s running down of our #NHS.”
She then wrote: “Rishi Sunak talks of “union paymasters” – I dare him to look an NHS worker in the eye and repeat it. I’m sure he wouldn’t, because deep down he knows that those striking for fair pay are simply people seeking to make ends meet & trying to do the best for their families #PMQs.”

Darren Jones MP was also furious with the PM, he tweeted: “The shame of Rishi Sunak. Blaming ambulance drivers for the deathly delays in ambulances. Shameful. #PMQs“
