Reports have surfaced indicating that Respawn Entertainment, the renowned developer behind Star Wars Jedi and Apex Legends, is delving into the creation of a first-person Mandalorian video game.
According to insights from Insider Gaming, the alleged Mandalorian project is in its nascent stages of development. This game purportedly places players in the shoes of a Mandalorian bounty hunter navigating through a galaxy under the oppressive reign of the Empire. When reached out for comment, IGN sought clarification from EA, the parent company of Respawn Entertainment.
In this reported game, players are said to undertake various bounties for financial rewards, a premise well-aligned with the ethos of Mandalorian lore. Notably, rumors suggest that the iconic Mandalorian jetpack will feature prominently, enhancing the game’s mobility with mechanics akin to Respawn’s popular battle royale title, Apex Legends.
Described as “fast-paced,” the gameplay reportedly includes a health regeneration system tied to consecutive kills. The Mandalorian arsenal is said to boast gadgets like a wrist rocket, grapple hook, and a visor for enemy and bounty tagging. Insider Gaming reveals that the game will not adopt an open-world format but instead offer linear levels across diverse planets. Details regarding multiplayer functionality remain undisclosed. As for the release date, sources suggest that the game is still a year or two away from fruition.
Amidst this speculation, Respawn Entertainment finds itself immersed in a plethora of projects. Besides managing the ongoing live service of Apex Legends, the studio is concurrently developing the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series, an unnamed Star Wars first-person shooter, and even a strategic Star Wars title.
