Today Chris Philp was doing the media rounds, and it didn’t go well.
During his interview on Sky News the Policing Minister claimed that by March this year the government will have hit their target of 20,000 more police officers, which means that will be the most ever at any point in the UK’s history.
However, even former Policing Minister Tory MP Kit Malthouse has admitted that the target of 20,000 means that in reality they need to recruit 45,000. That figure would cover the number of people who retire or leave the force etc.
Australia
If that wasn’t enough Western Australia Police issued a plea for officers from the UK, Ireland and New Zealand to join them four months ago – and says it has since seen a “large number” apply from the Met, reports The Evening Standard.
They offer a £47,000 starting salary and six weeks paid annual leave. Met officers start on “over £33,500” including allowances.
Peter shared the video and wrote: “Jeez! Did policing Minister Chris Philp seriously just tell @SkyNews viewers we will have “more police in the country than at any point in the UK’s history!” Never underestimate just how thick this lot think we all are! Get the FACTS here Cc @PFEW_HQ“
