Donald Trump was interrupted by an unexpected guest at his rally in Wisconsin on Sunday—a fly. The former president, visibly annoyed, made an odd detour from his speech to address the pesky insect, sparking gleeful reactions across social media.
“I don’t like flies,” Trump said while trying to swat the insect away. “Get out of here, fly. Never been a big fan of flies. You don’t mind my bringing that up, do you? Anyway, this is a very aggressive sucker, this one. This one in particular is very aggressive. Like I’m gonna be aggressive for our country.”
The moment quickly reminded many of the fly that famously landed on Mike Pence’s head during the 2020 vice-presidential debate against Kamala Harris. Social media users couldn’t resist making snarky comparisons and jokes about Trump’s run-in with the persistent fly.
Trump’s interaction with the insect turned into a viral moment, with people online buzzing about the unusual interruption and drawing light-hearted parallels to Pence’s memorable fly encounter.
