Jack Black’s latest Christmas film, Dear Santa, has released its first full trailer, giving audiences a preview of the holiday laughs to come. The Paramount+ comedy follows a young boy who, trying to prove Santa’s existence, accidentally summons Satan (played by Black) due to a spelling mistake in his letter to Father Christmas.
The film, directed by Bobby Farrelly of the Farrelly Brothers, arrives on Paramount+ on 25 November in the US and on 26 November in the UK.
A Farrelly Brothers Christmas Twist
Director Bobby Farrelly, known for classic comedies like Dumb and Dumber and There’s Something About Mary, describes Dear Santa as a family film with a Farrelly twist. He shared with Entertainment Weekly: “It’s a family story because it’s Christmas. But, being the Farrelly Brothers, we wanted to add our own unique spin to it. We aimed for a balance of humour with a bit of underlying sweetness.”
Why Jack Black Was the Perfect Fit
Farrelly explained that Jack Black’s natural mischief and charm made him ideal for the role of the accidentally summoned Satan. “With his expressive eyebrows and playful expressions, Jack brings a bit of mischief but remains very likeable,” he said. “We didn’t want a horror vibe – we wanted it to be fun and light-hearted, and Jack was perfect for bringing that vision to life.”
Dear Santa lands on Paramount+ on 25 November in the US and 26 November in the UK.
