Shrek 5 has been in development since 2016, although there hasn’t been much news about it since then.
The fifth entry in the well-known franchise has been having a difficult time in development, but fans will be happy to know that it is still in the works at this moment.
Despite changes to the plot and direction, it appears to be emerging from purgatory for a future release.
Shrek 5 hasn’t been the subject of any current news, but Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’s recent release has reignited interest in the fairy tale parody series.
According to Deadline, Banderas provided Red Sea Film Festival attendees with an update on the future of the Shrek franchise by announcing that there would probably be a another movie at some point in the future.
Additionally, he made it seem as though Puss in Boots might make a comeback in both Shrek 5 and perhaps a fourth episode of the character’s named spinoff series.
“I’ve been with this cat for almost 20 years. The first time I did Puss in Boots, I was working on broadway, so I did my first session there. I’ve done five movies now. There is probably gonna be another, and [Shrek] is probably coming back.”
