Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, has admitted he “didn’t make the cut” for a prime seat at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Despite loyal support for the former US president, Farage discovered that loyalty alone couldn’t secure him a spot in the Capitol rotunda.
Boris Gets a Prime View
During the event, Boris Johnson, the former prime minister, did manage to land a seat in the prestigious rotunda. Farage, on the other hand, ended up watching from elsewhere. The moment proved awkward when a GB News presenter quizzed him about his placement.
“No, no, no… didn’t make the cut,” Farage confessed. “I had a good seat… but look, it is what it is.”
A Decade of Loyalty
Farage emphasised his unwavering support for Trump, claiming he has stood by him for nearly ten years. He also pointed out that Boris Johnson is only an “occasional friend” of the American leader.
Yet, it was the former PM who sat in the rotunda. This prompted Farage to note that Johnson “supports Donald Trump when he’s going up and doesn’t support him when he’s going down.”
Social Media Reactions
Online observers didn’t hold back. Some took delight in Farage’s humiliation, suggesting he might as well have stayed in Clacton. Others pointed out that missing out on the rotunda seat was a telling sign of his diminished influence.
What’s Next for Farage?
With the incident now a source of widespread amusement, Farage will likely keep touting his relationship with Trump. However, the optics from this inauguration snub might leave lasting questions about just how close he really is to the 47th President.
