Guess who’s back from the dead? No, it’s not some Game of Thrones resurrection. Michael C. Hall has officially returned to his signature role as Dexter Morgan in the latest series installment, Dexter: Resurrection. Spotted filming in New York City this week, the 53-year-old actor looks every bit the part of the blood-spatter analyst-slash-serial killer we’ve all (strangely) missed.
Dressed for the job—both literally and figuratively—Hall was seen in a quilted olive-green jacket, dark grey jumper, and a pair of rugged cargo trousers. And yes, he even rocked black leather gloves, just in case things got messy. A camo-painted truck with a plush red leather interior served as his mobile murder-mobile during the shoot. Very on-brand, Dex.
Uma Thurman joins the dark side
As if Dexter’s return wasn’t exciting enough, Uma Thurman has also been confirmed to join the cast! While details about her role are being kept under wraps (typical Dexter secrecy), her addition has already created a buzz. Could she be Dexter’s next nemesis, or will she bring something entirely new to the table? Either way, we’re here for it.
The prequel keeps things ticking
If the new series isn’t enough, there’s also Dexter: Original Sin, a prequel currently airing with Patrick Gibson playing a young Dexter just starting out at Miami Metro. Yes, Hall’s iconic voice is back as Dexter’s inner monologue because what’s Dexter without that haunting self-commentary?
The prequel’s first episode even gave us a sneak peek at Dexter being revived after that infamous ending. Looks like Showtime is pulling out all the stops to keep fans hooked on this thrilling, blood-soaked universe.
Thrills for old and new fans alike
The hype for Dexter: Resurrection started brewing last year when Hall’s return was announced at San Diego Comic-Con. Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global’s Co-CEO, summed it up perfectly: “We are thrilled to have the brilliant Michael C. Hall reprise his iconic role as Dexter Morgan in Showtime’s most successful series ever.”
McCarthy also teased that while Resurrection caters to long-time fans, Original Sin is designed to draw in a whole new generation. So, whether you’re an OG fan or a newcomer, there’s something for everyone.
What to expect from Resurrection
Details about Dexter: Resurrection are still tightly guarded. Even the plot synopsis is being kept under wraps, leaving fans to speculate wildly (as we do). Hall himself teased fans on Showtime’s Instagram, saying, “Looking forward to another thrill ride, and when all is said and done, to you taking the ride with us.”
One thing’s for sure—this next chapter promises to be a rollercoaster. With Hall back in action and Uma Thurman on board, who knows what dark twists await?
