Brian Cox, best known as Logan Roy in Succession, has a message for the super-rich: pay more tax.
The Scottish actor believes extreme wealth is hurting democracy. He says billionaires like Elon Musk have too much power and influence.
Trump’s Billionaire Club
Cox, 78, called out Donald Trump for putting wealthy donors in key government jobs. He believes this is another example of how extreme wealth is damaging society.
His comments come as Musk faces backlash over the controversial DOGE scheme, which gives him the power to fire thousands of federal employees.
‘Billionaires Are Out of Touch’
In a column for The Guardian, Cox didn’t hold back:
👉 “A man born into wealth and privilege is advising the president on how the US should protect its cash.”
👉 “Meanwhile, the rest of the world lives in economic fear.”
👉 “These super-rich people are so far out of touch with reality, it’s infuriating.”
He argues that wealth isn’t just about money anymore. It’s about controlling democracies, economies, and even entire societies.
The Case for a Wealth Tax
Cox believes billionaires should pay their fair share. He pointed to an EU Tax Observatory report that found a 2% tax on billionaires could raise $250 billion a year.
Only 3,000 billionaires would have to pay it. Yet, Cox says, it could help tackle inequality worldwide.
His warning?
“We are in a terrifying age of wealth extremism.”
