Donald Trump has bought a Tesla in support of the car company he calls “Elon’s baby”.
The White House driveway briefly became a pop-up showroom, with various models on display.
Trump said sales event, sorry press conference, that he was going to buy a Tesla “because, number one it’s a great product, as good as it gets, and number two,” he said, pointing to Musk, “because this man has devoted his energy and his life to doing this, and I think he’s been treated very unfairly by a very small group of people.”
Trump also said he would gift his 17-year-old granddaughter, Kai, a Cybertruck — another Tesla vehicle with a starting price of nearly $80,000.
Tesla stock
Tesla stock has lost half its value in three months, its share price tanking to an all-time low this week.
Also, there have been reports of vandalised Tesla vehicles and dealerships, as well as protests, offered evidence of mounting opposition to Musk is continue to grow, unlike Tesla’s share price.
Trump also said “radical left lunatics” are “illegally and collusively” boycotting Tesla. Just to note, it is not illegal for consumers to boycott companies. The Supreme Court in 1982 ruled the First Amendment protects Americans’ rights to protest private businesses.
Watch
If that video wasn’t enough, a photographer took a shot of Trump’s notes — and they read like a Tesla sales pitch.
The White House X account was keen to help out too…
It wrote: “Get in, patriots—we have a country to save. Elon Musk helps President Trump pick his new Tesla!”
