JD Vance, yes him AGAIN, was booed by the audience as he took his seat at a National Symphony Orchestra concert at Washington’s Kennedy Center on Thursday evening.
Booing and jeering erupted in the hall, drowning out the announcements, as Vance and his wife, Usha, took their seats.
Such a vocal, impassioned political protest is not what you would expect in the normally polite and restrained world of classical music.
It is a LONG way from football terraces.
Vance even acknowledged the yelling and shouts of “You ruined this place!” with a smile and a wave.
Richard Grenell, the interim director of the Kennedy Center who was appointed by Trump, branded the crowd “intolerant”.
Last month, President Trump replaced the chairman of the Centre with himself and removed 13 members of the board of trustees. He then appointed foreign policy adviser Mr Grenell as the interim leader.
“So we took over the Kennedy Center,” Trump said following the changes. “We didn’t like what they were showing and various other things. We’re going to make sure that it’s good and it’s not going to be woke. There’s no more woke in this country.”
