There was a protest at a London hotel by refugees being forcibly removed at very short notice.
They were protesting against a plan to move them from London to Bedfordshire.
Over 130 asylum seekers were living in a Greenwich hotel, in South East London, and were given just a few hours’ notice that they were to be moved.
Fled war
One asylum seeker, who has remained at the Greenwich hotel, told The Guardian: “They came to us without prior notice. I have a medical condition. I cannot leave this place.
“I fled war in my country. I have just started to rebuild my life here and now I have to be uprooted again.”
Activist Peter Tachell wrote: “These people are refugees but they are being manhandled like criminals & transported around the country like cattle Banishing them to internal exile has echoes of an evil past! Refugees are being forcibly removed with just a few hours notice! SHAME!”
