The Fallen Sun, directed by series regular Jamie Payne and Luther writer-creator Neil Cross, is a direct sequel to the TV series, which ended in 2019 after five seasons.
Elba’s brilliant but dishonoured investigator Luther will be imprisoned in the BBC and Netflix co-produced movie as a terrifying killer, Andy Serkis’ psychotic tech billionaire David Robey, terrorises London.
The film is set for a limited theatrical release on 24 February, ahead of a worldwide Netflix release on 10 March.
