Patrick Wilson’s horror movie franchise will return for more scares, and here’s everything we know about Insidious 5.
Patrick Wilson, who played the lead role in the first Insidious film, will make his directorial debut with the upcoming fifth installment of the series.
Insidious: The Last Key, the preceding horror film in the series, earned some very negative reviews, but it was the highest-grossing Insidious film to date and generated a huge profit at the box office.
Whether or not movie reviewers enjoy it, a sequel will be made when a movie grosses $168 million against a reported budget of under $10 million.
Insidious 5 will be released on July 7, 2023. The fifth instalment, titled Insidious: Fear the Dark, was first announced back in October 2020.
Ten years will pass since the events of Insidious 2 when the fifth installment is released. Josh (Wilson) and his son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) were hypnotised at the end of that installment to help them forget the dreadful events that took place in The Beyond and the demonic creatures they battled.
Speaking to Deadline, Wilson explained the next Insidious film will explore the question: “What does that do to a family after ten years?” He went on to tease more questions that are set to be answered in Insidious 5, such as “After so long, are we still hypnotised? What does that do to your marriage? And then what does that do for a father and son relationship?”
