Refugee groups have slammed government plans to ban migrants from re-entering Britain if they cross the English Channel in small boats.
They claim the refugees will be left in limbo under new legislation, Channel migrants would be removed from the UK, banned from future re-entry and barred from applying for British citizenship.
Enver Solomon, chief executive of the Refugee Council said: “These plans shatter the UK’s longstanding commitment under the UN convention to give people a fair hearing regardless of the path they have taken to reach our shores. They will simply add more cost and chaos to the system.”
Rishi Sunak, who has made the issue one of his top priorities, telling the Mail on Sunday: “Make no mistake, if you come here illegally, you will not be able to stay.”
Supporters say the PM is “getting a grip” on illegal migration.
Why is it happening?
What seems to have been missed by the MSM in all this is a report by Durham University that found that Brexit was the primary factor behind these dangerous small boat crossings.
Peter Stefanovic shared his video and wrote: “Why is@BBC so reluctant to mention the new Durham University report finding Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal is the primary factor behind the skyrocketing number of small boat crossings?”
