Hollywood star Brendan Fraser has just won the best actor Oscar for The Whale at the Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
But what about the Mummy franchise? More of that in a moment.
An emotional Fraser took to the stage telling the audience: “So this is what the multiverse looks like!”
He then paid tribute to the film’s director, Darren Aronofsky, and writer Samuel Hunter, saying: “You laid your whale-sized hearts bare so we could see into your souls.”
He closed his speech saying: “I started in this business 30 years ago,” he said. “Things didn’t come easily to me but there was a facility I didn’t appreciate at the time until it stopped.”
The Mummy?
Now he seems keen to return to his role, as Rick O’Connell in the Mummy films franchise.
Speaking during an interview on Deadline’s The Actor’s Side, Fraser said that although he does not know any details about a Mummy 4, he is not against returning to the role.
Fraser said: “It’s kind of an open-ended question for some time now. I’m not opposed to it, I don’t know an actor who doesn’t want a job.
“I don’t think I’ve been this famous and unsalaried at the same time in my professional life so sign me up!”
