Jacob Rees-Mogg was discussing Brexit (what else?!) yesterday.
Mogg a cabinet minister in Johnson’s government, also claimed the cross-party privileges committee investigating his former boss is “political” – and even suggested it all goes back to “haters of Brexit” trying to bring him down.
So yep, even that was about Brexit!
DUP
Mogg was asked about the DUP and their rejection of the Windsor Framework.
Its leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson said he would continue to work with the government on “outstanding issues”.
But Downing Street has said there are no plans for substantial change to the deal.
MPs will be given a chance to vote on the so-called “Stormont Brake” aspect of the Windsor Framework on Wednesday.
However, Transport Secretary Mark Harper dismissed the likelihood of a major revolt by Tory MPs.
He told Sky News: “I hope that the DUP in time will accept the deal.
“They obviously are not going to support it this week but I think the vast majority of my colleagues will.”
Watch
Filmmaker Peter Stefanovic has pulled apart Mogg’s argument about the DUP’s reluctance to agree to the new deal, which is not very different at all from Boris Johnson’s original ‘oven ready’ deal.
Peter shared the video and wrote: “Just watch was in disbelief.”
Peter added: “This morning criticizing the Northern Ireland Protocol & Rishi Sunak’s new Brexit deal but no one actually points out it’s an improved version of the Boris Johnson deal he championed & voted for!”
