Ed Balls was on fire today when he clashed with policing minister Chris Philip on Good Morning Britain over police figures.
Co-host Susanna Reid began by questioning Mr Philip asking: “24,000 police officers taken off the streets, it’s no surprise that knife crime went on the rise. Where did the police officers go?”
Then Ed Balls stepped in.
The Tory minister told the former Labour MP to “stop interrupting” him.
Philp also hit out at the deficit that the Labour government “left behind.”
Bankrupted
“You might have noticed Ed… hang on, can you stop interrupting and let me finish? There’s been a massive pandemic, you might have [noticed]. A global pandemic,” Mr Philp said as Mr Balls questioned him.
“The previous Labour government, with all due to respect to Ed, bankrupted the country,” he repeated.
Balls called on the policing minister to reveal whether the UK’s national debt had fallen in the current government.
Philip tried to side step the question as the Balls exclaimed: “Debt has risen every year since 2010!”
