How rich is King Charles? It is worth knowing as we the humble taxpayer are paying £100m for his coronation.
Well according to The Guardian the aged King has amassed inherited assets from his mother’s death, pushing his wealth to an eye-watering £1.8bn
However, the Charles’ personal fortune is largely concealed from public scrutiny and it is impossible to know the complete value of his estate. It is likely to be a lot more than the £1.8bn quoted by the paper.
What was all that about being an open and modern king? Not when it comes to his cash it doesn’t!
The newspaper also notes that the Windsor family’s most valuable financial asset: total immunity from inheritance tax.
The Duke of Westminster managed to dodge it as well when his father passed away, pocketing around £10bn tax free.
Coronation query
Putting the insane amounts of money aside, it is also claimed that: “mall shards of wood from what some believe is the True Cross on which Jesus was crucified have been incorporated into a cross that will lead King Charles’ coronation procession.”
Two pieces have been gifted to King Charles by the Pope, and have been fixed into the Cross of Wales, which will be carried into Westminster Abbey next month.
Designer and maker Michael Lloyd said: “The commission has allowed me to delve into the previous 1,000 years of faith and history. Now, with more than 267 thousand hammer blows, the cross has emerged from the inanimate sheets of silver, and I am delighted it will be used as part of the Coronation Service on 6 May.”
