The Department for Work and Pensions has published a hard-hitting video aimed at bringing down benefit cheats.
They shared the video and wrote: “”We will track you down. We will find you. And we will bring you to justice” – Minister for Disabled People @VotePursglove At DWP we have a very particular set of skills that we use in conjuction with the police to tackle fraud.”
Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, Tom Pursglove MP, said: “Benefit fraud is never a victimless crime, and sees money stolen from taxpayers and deserving members of the public. These arrests demonstrate our resolute commitment to cracking down on heartless fraudsters who dishonestly exploit our benefits system.
“We are determined to ensure criminals do not get away with stealing from the taxpayer, and our Fraud Plan will help save over £9 billion over the next five years.”
Michelle Mone
It left a few people to wonder why the government are not going after people like Michelle Mone and others accused of PPE fraud, or the huge difference between tax fraud and benefit fraud.
Baroness Michelle Mone took a leave of absence from the House of Lords after questions around her alleged links to a firm awarded contracts for personal protective equipment (PPE) intensified.
In 2021, the government revealed that she had referred PPE Medpro via the VIP lane system, with the company awarded two contracts worth £200m. There are claims she profited from this deal, something she denies.
