The coronation is tomorrow, as we all know. Two videos and the responses to them have illuminated the rift between that still exists in this country.
Firstly to historian David Starkey….
Coronation
He claimed that PM Rishi Sunak has not properly engaged with the coronation because he is “not fully grounded in our culture”.
Speaking to GB News about Sunak he said: “Invisible. I think one of the reasons that I think a lot has gone wrong, for example, why parliament has not been properly represented at the coronation of a parliamentary monarchy, is because the government isn’t interested in the constitution.
“The prime minister, the man of immense talent, of extraordinary skill, but really, not fully grounded in our culture,” he continued.
“I know that’s a difficult and controversial thing to say, but I think it’s true. And, again, this coronation is going to highlight far too much our differences rather than what unites us.”
He was then asked if he was talking in “terms of religion”, he agreed saying: “In terms of religion.”

Ash Sakar
Next journalist Ask Sarkar uploaded a video where she discusses the monarchy.
She shared the video and wrote: “Why get rid of the monarchy? Because nobody should be above the law.”
A reply came back with: “go back home them.”
She replied: “i’ve just nipped out to get some bits, back in a tick x”
It seems colour of skin and the royal family still don’t mix, in some peoples’ minds, as Meghan found out.
Will they ever?
