A Tory MP, who was booted out of party for Holocaust comments, has joined Laurence Fox and his Reclaim Party.
The former Tory MP in question is Andrew Bridgen who has formally joined the Reclaim Party.
He told reporters that there is a “chasm” between Parliament and the people, and Fox’s party is the answer, presumably.
The North West Leicestershire MP said: “There is a huge chasm now between our Parliament and what goes on in Westminster and the people.”
Andrew told the crowd that he was joining Laurence Fox’s party “because they respect free speech as the basis for every aspect of our democracy and our society.”
Petition rejected
A petition to reinstate Andrew Bridgen was rejected on 27 April 2023.
The rejection stated: “It’s not clear what the petition is asking the UK Government or Parliament to do.
“Andrew Bridgen is still an MP, and able to take part in parliamentary business.
“Mr Bridgen has lost the Conservative party whip, which means he is now an independent MP. Decisions about the party whip are a matter for individual political parties, not the Government or Parliament.
“We only reject petitions that don’t meet the petition standards.”
Holocaust
He was stripped of the Tory party whip at the start of the year after making the vaccines comparison to the Nazi genocide in the Second World War.
Bridgen claimed Covid jabs were “the biggest crime against humanity since the Holocaust.”
He said said he would “cross the floor” and sit on the opposition benches as the Reclaim Party’s first representative, will it be their last?
Andrew said: “There has been much speculation following my suspension and subsequent expulsion from the Conservative Party as to my next move.
“Despite having a right to an appeal and strong grounds to pursue one, I have decided not to do so.
“This is because I have lost faith in the Conservative Party and the impartiality of its disciplinary procedures.”
Laurence Fox
Reclaim was founded in October 2020 by actor Laurence Fox.
The party’s main focus is on freedom of speech.
It has also been very critical of “woke culture”
Here he is today, all excited.
