In a trend of turning our beloved children’s movies into horrors (See Winnie the Pooh!) – it’s now continuing with Bambi!
‘In an effort to protect the forest for a school charity fund, a young girl and her friends hike to a forest deep in the Northern English countryside, only to be brutally killed off one by one by a monstrous deer that wants revenge on the poachers who shot its mother to death’
The viral success of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey has inspired director Rhys Frake-Waterfield to put his own horror movie spin on other iconic children’s properties that have slipped into the public domain, with Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare currently in the works for a future release from his team.
From ITN Studios and Jagged Edge Productions, Bambi: The Reckoning is set to be directed by Scott Jeffrey with Rhys Frake-Waterfield producing the “dark retelling” of the classic tale.
Scott Jeffrey tells Dread: “The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love. Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix’s The Ritual, Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness. Prepare for Bambi on rabies!”
There is no timescale on release as of yet.
