A Freaky Friday sequel is coming and it is likely to be as funny as the first, as the two leading roles from the first film will reprise the role.
The 2003 body-swap comedy that starred Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed and will be made by Disney.
Freaky Friday was based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel, and grossed $160 million globally.
It is a comedy many people still turn to for a fun couple of hours.
20th Anniversary
Both Curtis, 64, who recently congratulated Lohan, 36, on the birth of her first child, spoke about the sequel in a New York Times profile on their 2003 film’s 20th anniversary.
Curtis is coming off her first Oscar win for Everything Everywhere All At Once and she’ll next be seen in Disney’s Haunted Mansion.
Jamie Lee Curtis told the New York Times in a retrospective on the 2003 film that she continued to get questions about a Freaky Friday sequel while promoting her 2022 horror film, Halloween Ends.
“Something really touched a chord. When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made,’ ” said Curtis.
Then Lindsay Lohan to the Times of a potential sequel: “Jamie and I are both open to that, so we’re leaving it in the hands that be. We would only make something that people would absolutely adore.”

It is about 20 years after the first film his the big screen.
Elyse Hollander will be writing the screenplay, for the Freaky Friday Sequel .
However, the story was first made into a film for the 1976 movie with the same name starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster.
