Tories love to give advice to the poor on how to budget better, stop spending all their money on fags and booze, as they imagine all poor people do. Own Brand baked beans is the new battleground!
It wasn’t long ago Tory Lee Anderson invited opposition MPs to visit a food bank in his constituency, where he said that meals could be made for about 30p a day, and which also provided a mandatory teaching course to its users.
After he made these comments he has been nicknamed ’30p Lee.’
Food banks
Who can remember back in 2017 when Jacob Rees-Mogg said the rapid increase in food banks showed a “rather uplifting” picture of a compassionate country.
Challenged by a caller to a radio phone-in Rees-Mogg argued they fulfilled a vital function. “I don’t think the state can do everything,” Mogg said at the time. “It tries to provide a base of welfare that should allow people to make ends meet during the course of the week, but on some occasions that will not work.
“And to have charitable support given by people voluntarily to support their fellow citizens, I think is rather uplifting and shows what a good, compassionate country we are.”

Now Conservative MP Brendan Clarke-Smith MP has handed out some pearls of wisdom to the hungry people of this nation.
Appearing on LBC he said: “‘Buy the Tesco value one.’
Tory MP @Bren4Bassetlaw offers up a solution for soaring food prices.
He wasn’t done there! He also took to Twitter and did a little price comparison, thanks Brendan!
