It’s confirmed… a Lilo & Stitch live action movie is in the works!
Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois wrote and directed the original animated movie, which was released in 2002 and grossed $273 million at the worldwide box office.
The animated film was based on an idea by Sanders, who originally conceived the character Stitch in the 1980s.
Based on a screenplay by Mike Van Waes, Dean Fleischer-Camp will helm the live-action Lilo & Stitch.
In O’ahu, Hawaii, the movie will start shooting the next month.
Randi Hiller and Rachel Whitle Sutton, the film’s casting directors, are presently accepting applications. The current release date for Lilo & Stitch in theatres is May 10, 2024.
According to reports, Disney+ may have a direct debut.
This live-action movie is being made by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback, the firm that also produced the Disney “Aladdin” adaptation, with executive producers Ryan Halprin and Louie Provost.
The distributor and production firm are both Walt Disney Pictures.
