A new Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves film uses a spell that is taken directly from the tabletop role-playing game after an action-packed trailer.
The Speak With Dead spell from the game, which enables the caster to use necromancy to raise a corpse for questioning, is included in the sneak peek published by Paramount Pictures. You can ask the corpse up to five questions after it has been revived, but as Chris Pine‘s character Edgin discovers, it’s very simple to get them wrong.
Edgin struggles to properly question the dead despite receiving clear instructions from Simon, a sorcerer played by Justice Smith. Simon is joined by other explorers Doric, a druid portrayed by Sophia Lillis, and Holga, a barbarian played by Michelle Rodriguez.
Regé-Jean Page plays the noble Xenk, and Hugh Grant plays the evil Forge, past this scene.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves hits cinemas March 31.
