Five Nights at Freddy’s is a popular survival horror series recognised for its eerie environment and frequent jump scares.
The concept sounded ideal for a horror movie franchise—trapped inside a Chuck-E-Cheese-style children’s restaurant, with robotic puppets that come to life at night.
The movie will “follow a troubled security guard as he begins working at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza,” according to the Deadline story.
He learns during his first night on the job that the Freddy’s night shift won’t be so simple to get through.
Although Blumhouse Productions, known for its horror films like Insidious, The Purge, and The Black Phone, was previously announced to be producing the FNAF movie, not much else is known about it.
On October 5, 2022, CEO and founder of Blumhouse Jason Blum tweeted that production on the FNAF movie would start in February 2023.
This would suggest that the movie will be released in late 2023 or early 2024, but the most likely scenario is that it will happen before the end of 2024.
Who’s in the film?
Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard have been cast in the film, according to a December 16, 2022 Deadline story, though it is unclear what their roles will be.
On January 24, insider DanielRPK also claimed that Elizabeth Lail had joined the cast, possibly in the role of a female police officer.
Five Nights at Freddy’s will be written and directed by Emma Tammi, who also served as the director of Blood Moon and The Wind.
