The Exorcist by David Gordon Green is once again in production, and according to a report from Deadline, Olivia Marcum is the newest performer to join the cast.
Marcum, a newbie, recently played Matilda in the stage production of Matilda The Musical. It is yet unknown what role she will play in the reboot of The Exorcist.
For Universal, Blumhouse, and Morgan Creek, Gordon Green is helming the brand-new The Exorcist sequel, which will pave the path for a future trilogy. Leslie Odom Jr. and Lidya Jewett from Netflix’s Nightbooks will star in the first movie of the trilogy, which will hit theatres on October 13, 2023. Ellen Burstyn, who played Chris MacNeil in the original 1973 film, will also appear. Production has already started.
The sequel for this year will also star Ann Dowd (Hereditary).
The first plot details we were provided with last year tease, “Odom Jr. will play the father of a possessed child. Desperate for help, he tracks down Ms. Burstyn’s character.”
Since the release of Dominion: Prequel to The Exorcist in 2005, a different take on Exorcist: The Beginning from the previous year, the Exorcist film series hasn’t been seen on a large screen. These movies followed The Exorcist II: The Heretic from 1977 and The Exorcist III from 1990.
In more recent times, “The Exorcist” was skillfully set in the same universe as the original classic in a short-lived television series at Fox that was surprisingly good.
