As night follows day there has been anger from some right-winger anger due to the feminist content of the Barbie film.
Well, this is the world we live in.
For example, Piers Morgan was ridiculed for saying he’d be ‘executed’ if he made ‘male version’ of Barbie.
This was amazing, one person took angry reviews and added them to the film’s poster!
Barbie’s global success is undeniable, with the Greta Gerwig-directed film crossing the $500 million mark in less than a week of release.
The film’s dominance extends to every market it’s in, with impressive earnings in the UK, Brazil, Australia, and China, among others.
After crossing the half-a-billion-dollar mark, the next question is can it hit the billion-dollar mark?
Barbie right-wing anger
Not really!
“Certainly, there’s a lot of passion,” director Gerwig, 39, responded. “My hope for the movie is that it’s an invitation for everybody to be part of the party and let go of the things that aren’t necessarily serving us as either women or men.
“I hope that in all of that passion, if they see it or engage with it, it can give them some of the relief that it gave other people,” she added.
Emmy Awards 2023
In other movie news the Emmy Awards, which had been due to take place in September, have been postponed due to Hollywood strikes.
Members of the Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild are striking in the biggest walkout for 60 years.
It means those in the unions can’t work or do any publicity, and this includes awards shows, even if they were going to get a gong.
