The announcement of a new Harry Potter TV series by Max (formerly HBO Max) has ignited a wave of reactions and controversy due to the involvement of J.K. Reporter Sean T. Collins urged journalists to address Rowling’s controversial views in interviews related to the TV series. Out magazine tweeted, “We don’t want any new Harry Potter content if noted transphobe J.K. Rowling is involved.”

The Fantastic Beasts film franchise faced declining box office numbers, but the poor reception of the films themselves may have played a significant role.
