In 2025, the popular demonic dancing doll from the internet will be back in theatres.
The follow-up to the campy thriller from Atomic Monster and Blumhouse, “M3GAN,” is currently in production. The film is expected to premiere in theatres on January 17, 2025, according to Universal.
Akela Cooper, who wrote the first film, will write the sequel.
No plot details have been given, however Allison Williams, whose character played a key role in bringing the crazy AI-like doll to life, as well as Violet McGraw, who played M3GAN’s little best friend, will return for “2.0.”
The first movie’s director was Gerard Johnstone, but the sequel’s director has not yet been chosen.
Model 3 Generative Android, known as “M3GAN,” made its theatrical debut earlier in January and has since dominated the box office, earning $91 million worldwide. It cost $12 million, so its backers are already making money off of it.
