As production kicks into high gear, fans are getting their first peek at Jaafar Jackson stepping into the iconic shoes of his uncle, Michael Jackson, in the highly anticipated biopic “Michael.” The newly released image captures Jackson belting out “Man in the Mirror” during his electrifying Dangerous tour in the 1990s, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the film’s portrayal of the legendary pop sensation.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, known for his work on “The Equalizer,” the biopic aims to chronicle Michael Jackson’s tumultuous journey from his early days in a boy band to his meteoric rise as one of the most celebrated figures in the world of music.
Fuqua expressed his excitement about the project, highlighting the extraordinary efforts of the entire team in bringing Jackson’s story to life. “We have assembled an incredible team of artists for this project – hair & makeup, costumes, cinematography, choreography, lighting, everything,” Fuqua remarked. “But most importantly, it’s Jaafar who embodies Michael. It goes beyond the physical resemblance. It’s Michael’s spirit that comes through in a magical way. You have to experience it to believe it.”
In addition to Jaafar Jackson’s portrayal of the King of Pop, the film boasts a star-studded cast including Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Miles Teller, and Juliano Valdi, who takes on the role of Jackson during his formative years.
Set to hit cinemas on April 18th next year, “Michael” promises to offer an intimate and compelling look into the life and legacy of one of music’s most enigmatic and influential figures. Fans eagerly anticipate experiencing the magic of Michael Jackson’s story unfold on the big screen.
